Polystyrene

Polystyrene (PS) is a transparent, rigid thermoplastic with low water absorption and good dimensional stability. GPPS and HIPS grades are widely used in packaging, automotive and electronic applications.

Polystyrene is a polymer produced by the polymerization of styrene. It is a rigid, high dielectric, low water absorption thermoplastic with good dimensional stability. Polystyrene is crystal clear, glossy, easily colorable and odorless. PS is generally resistant to acids, bases, alcohols, oils and salt solutions. Polystyrene ignites easily and burns with a luminous flame, producing dark smoke and a characteristic odor. Commercially, it is available in Anti-Shock (HIPS – High Impact Polystyrene) and Crystal (GPPS – General Purpose Polystyrene) grades. GPPS, commonly referred to as “Crystal”, and HIPS, known as “Anti-Shock”, are among the plastic raw materials regularly stocked by our company.
